Covergirl recently released their new jumbo gloss balm, which is basically a lip crayon. Many brands have actually been coming out with these balm stain/gloss type products but so far I've only tried the Revlon ones. For today's review, I have 4 of the 10 shades that are available in Australia, 270 Cocoa Twist, 235 Coral Twist, 220 Haute Pink Twist and 260 Plum Twist. These retail for AU$12.95 and you can find them at Priceline and most pharmacies.. (I chanced upon a 50% sale on the entire Covergirl range at Wizard Warehouse, hence I decided to get them).
One thing that don't like about the packaging is that the name of the colour is on the plastic seal. So once you peel the seal off to use your product, you won't know what shade your lip crayon is in. The number is labelled on the bottom but it's so much easier remembering the names in my opinion. These gloss balms are pretty much as their name suggest. It gives a very glossy finish and goes on smoothly. The packaging describes the product as "sheer color soft shine", which I agree with. The colour payoff isn't exactly sheer in my books, the ones with colour do show up quite well. Nudes and creams usually don't show up on my lips because they are already quite dark hence I didn't get any of the lighter shades.
(I picked up Cocoa Twist and Coral Twist first and went back to get Haute Pink Twist and Plum Twist, hence the separate pictures.)

I love these balm glosses! They apply so smoothly on the lips and are very hydrating, for me at least. I don't have particular dry/chapped lips but these definitely do not dry my lips out. They wear pretty comfortable and just feel like you have balm on, nothing sticky or too slippery.
The colour payoff for these balm glosses are great too. Considering they are a lip balm type of product, I think the pigmentation is good. They are not opaque by any means so even though some shades are buildable, you're not going to get the pale nude shade to show up on dark pigmented lips. I think my lips are slightly pigmented, like a medium deep brownish tone, hence I chose the shades that were brighter/darker because I know they will show up on my lips.

Cocoa Twist - This is the perfect nude for me! In the picture it just looks glossy but in real life, I promise it looks amazing. There is abit of pinkish undertone which just makes me natural lips look prettier.

There is no scent to this product and they twist up so there's no need to sharpen them. I definitely recommend the Covergirl balm glosses! In fact, I like them better than the Revlon balm stains because the Revlon ones have a minty scent to it, and I just happen to not like mint. Bourjois and Jordana also recently came out with a similar product and the reviews seem to be quite good. However, I didn't try the Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon as it is slightly more expensive (AU$15) than Covergirl. And Jordana isn't readily available where I am so I can't get my hands on the Twist and Shine Balm Stain.
My favourites are definitely Cocoa Twist and Coral Twist because I love them for everyday! Which shades of the Lip Perfection Jumbo Balm Gloss are you loving? (:
