NOTD: minion nail art

I was home early on Sunday and I thought of doing something fun with the rest of my weekend, so I decided to do a nail art project. After thinking about what design I wanted to paint, I chose to do the minions from Despicable Me 2 because I love the movie!

First of all, apologies for the sloppy finished look. I don't have nail dotting tools so I had to make do with bobby pins and and disposable floss toothpicks(yea, I didn't even have regular toothpicks in my house but I still made it work! Haha).

My handy 'tools'.

All the colours I used to create my minion nails!

Here is the full list of polishes that I used.

1. Ulta3 Honolulu
2. Ulta3 French Pink
3. Ulta3 Watermelon
4. Chi Chi (Pearl Bead Manicure) Black
5. Chi Chi (Pearl Bead Manicure) White
6. The Face Shop BL605
7. O.P.I Do You Lilac It?
8. Covergirl 300 Vio-last
9. Rainbow Color 35
10. NYX NGP112
11. China Glaze Cowardly Lyin'
12. O.P.I Natural Nail Base Coat
13. Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

The blue is probably too dark but that's the only blue I have in my nail polish collection. And I mixed some of the polishes for certain shades, such as the light purple for the evil minion's hair(5+7) and the pink for the unicorn(2+3). The red shade was just for the siren lights and the tongue of the minion.

To create the regular minions.

To create evil minions.

To create the unicorn.

This is the finished look...
Left hand: regular minions with an evil minion on my ring finger and the 'fire engine siren' minion on my pinky.

Right hand: regular minions on thumb and pinky with unicorn on my index finger, french maid minion on my middle finger and an evil
minion as the accent nail on my ring finger.

It's my first attempt at any kind of intricate nail art design so do pardon my sloppy work. The minions on my left hand looks more consistent since I'm right-handed, so it was definitely easier for me to paint the details. Surprisingly, the minions on my right hand didn't look that bad overall. Quite pleased with the outcome.

I chose to do accent nails just to shake things up a little and the evil minions were an obvious choice since they're purple. I also chose other 'special' characters like the fire siren minions as well as the french maid minion specific to the second Despicable Me movie! Because I was out of ideas of which minions to do, I decided to do the Agnes' unicorn plushie! I haven't seen anyone done the unicorn so I had to look at pictures online for reference and I'm really happy with how it turned out! It's probably my favourite nail out of the lot.

This little weekend 'project' has been more fun than I thought! Hope you enjoyed reading too.. thanks for dropping by lovelies! xoxo.
